Microsoft Excel’s graphing capabilities are quite limited. With XYZ Mesh you can convert and copy your XYZ data directly into Excel’s native format of MESH, Surface/Wireline Graph, 3D Line/Scatter Plot, Cell Coloring Shading and even export them directly into Microsoft Excel and CAD.

What is XYZ Mesh used for?

XYZ Mesh was originally created to graph geological land formations. Now XYZ Mesh is used for land surveys, atmospheric data graphing, oceanic depth mapping, metrology, sound frequency dissipation and several more fields of study. XYZ Mesh has proven useful due to the ease of use and the flexibility of sharing data.

Because data is formatted for Microsoft Excel, all of XYZ Mesh’s exports can be viewed by anyone who has a spreadsheet program capable of opening an Excel document. Companies who purchase our Site License option have the added protection of saving their project files into an encrypted format that only their company license can read. Excel 3D Scatter Plots and 3D Line Charts

XYZ Mesh can export 3D Scatter Plots and 3D Line Charts into Microsoft Excel. In this new update, the generated charts can be zoomed in, rotated on three axis and include adjustable X Y and Z planes. Simply click ‘Excel 3D Chart’ from the input window, or File> Export to Excel before converting to a MESH format.

Why XYZ Mesh?

XYZ Mesh is currently the only software that can convert XYZ data into MESH, calculate distance variations and mathematically fill in any missing data points and export all of this into a Microsoft Excel friendly MESH format.

XYZ Mesh was originally created to display XYZ data gathered during sub-surface geological surveying (or Depth Logging) in an easily understood Surface Plot using Microsoft Excel. Since the first release XYZ Mesh has adapted features that are used in Land Surveys, Metrology, Surface Graphing, Noise Level Graphing, Atmospheric Mesh Readings, Aquatic Formations, Heat Level Graphing and many more.

Export Directly Into CAD with DXF Format

XYZ Mesh now comes with the capability of exporting converted MESH data directly into a CAD drawing DXF file format. DXF files are created using Polylines (PLINE) to create a MESH style drawing. Polylines are used because not all CAD viewers come equipt with MESH capabilities, but most can generate Polylines. XYZ Mesh Exports - CAD DXF

Export Directly Into Excel

XYZ Mesh Export to Excel XYZ Mesh comes with the capability of exporting all of your converted data directly into Excel. This includes MESH (Contour, Contour Wireline, 3-D Surface, 3-D Wireline, Cell Shading), the ability to graph data inside Excel, 3-D Line, XYZ and customized fields for your business. Wireline Contours can also have custom background images, used for image overlay.

Floating Graph Window

Version 6 brought along the Floating Graph window. This allows the graphing portion of the software to be minimized, maximized or relocated to another screen for presentations or better viewing/analyzing.

Optimize for Excel Button

Microsoft Excel has a limit of 255 data points that it can plot at one time. This includes rows and columns. XYZ Mesh does not have this limitation. Previously users would have to decrease their decimal points to lower the number of rows/columns that were produced during conversion. Now the new ‘Optimize for Excel’ button will reduce the number of rows and columns to 250 for proper Excel graphing every time, regardless of the original data count.

Theoretical Data Points

Microsoft Excel lacks the capability of producing theoretical data to ‘fill in’ missing data points in surface graphs. To compensate for this, XYZ Mesh now comes with the ability to produce those values before it is exported into Excel.

3D MESH Graphing

Microsoft Excel is no longer required to display 3D MESH Plots. XYZ Mesh’s new graphing capabilities includes its own 3D MESH Wireline Contour graphic engine. Now you can preview, convert, export and curve all your data within XYZ Mesh.

Distance Calculations

Version 6 comes with a distance calculator. With the distance calculator you can calculate the distance in X, Y, Z and point-to-point distance of two data points within a few clicks. Once the data is graphed click the ‘Calculate Distance’ button, select the first point and select the second point. The data will be updated under the graph.

Convert MESH to X Y Z

The MESH Input tab will allow the user to input their own pre-calculated MESH data for X Y Z Conversion, MESH Curving, Data Export or Graphic Display. With version 3 you can now gather X Y Z data from your MESH data within seconds.

Compatibility

XYZ Mesh version 7 and up has been updated to be compatible with the latest version of Microsoft Office, 2019. We have also taken steps to ensure that it is also backwards compatible with previous version. XYZ Mesh is compatible with validated Microsoft Office Excel versions 2007-2019.

Upgraded MESH Curving Calculations and Speed Increases

The curving calculation that has set XYZ Mesh apart from the other MESH Formulas has received an upgrade. Now data converts almost ten times faster than version 6, making this the largest increase in speed XYZ Mesh has ever seen!

User Manual Update

The current user manual has been included in every release of XYZ Mesh v7 and up. Simply go to Help and locate your desired function.

Volume Calculation

Due to popular request, XYZ Mesh version 8 and up will have a very simple volume calculator. Volume is calculated by taking the lowest Z point, averaging the highest Z points of each X and Y point on a grid formation (cube) to calculate the average volume for that one section. Each section is then added together to create an estimated volume for the surface.

Side-by-Side Comparison

XYZ Mesh version 8 and above includes the ability to open two separately saved projects and load them side-by-side in a comparison type graph. This will allow users to see differences and gage individual visual defects.

Things to Know

  • No software can auto fill XYZ into MESH with 100% accuracy.
  • XYZ Mesh will not convert data with ‘0’ entries. XYZ Mesh will automatically change these values from “0” to “0.0001”.
  • To generate and produce Microsoft Excel documents with XYZ Mesh you will need to have a supported versions of Microsoft Excel installed on your computer. (2007+)
